Prof. Dr. med. Timo Siepmann, FAHA, FESO, is Senior Consultant (Leitender Oberarzt) at the Department of Neurology at University Hospital Dresden. A specialist in stroke care, he leads the Stroke Unit as well as a neurovascular research group.
From 2015 to 2016, he conducted research as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Radcliffe Department of Medicine at the University of Oxford, supported by a fellowship from the European Academy of Neurology. Previously, from 2010 to 2011, he worked as a Clinical Research Fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School in Boston, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
His clinical and scientific focus lies in the diagnosis and treatment of stroke, as well as research on the heart-brain axis. His research has been recognized with numerous national and international awards, including the Rudolph-Buchheim-Award of the German Society for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, the International Scholarship Award of the American Academy of Neurology, and the Paul Dudley White Award of the American Heart Association.
Prof. Siepmann is the author of over 170 peer-reviewed scientific publications and editor of a textbook. He has acquired substantial competitively awarded third-party funding. He is a Fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA) and the European Stroke Organisation (FESO).
Since 2012, he has served as Site Director of the Dresden course center for the international continuing education program Principles and Practice of Clinical Research of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. In addition, he is the academic director of the accredited Master's program “Clinical Research (M.Sc.)” at Dresden International University.
Prof. Siepmann Coordinator for Neurology Education at University Hospital Dresden. From 2020 to 2024, he played a key role as project leader in the development and implementation of the model degree program in medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of TU Dresden in Chemnitz (MEDiC).
