A strong alliance

DIU is a network university with numerous advantages for its students. Without a state budget and grants from investors or sponsors, DIU can only fulfill its tasks if it sees itself as a node in a functional network. And that is why there is an extensive and increasingly branching national and international network both for the university as a whole and for individual courses of study, such as, for example, Clinical Research, M.Sc., Prevention, Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences, B.Sc, Vehicle Safety and Traffic Accident Research, M.Sc. and many more.

As a network university, DIU traditionally draws on

  • Scientific expertise of university faculty and practice experts,
  • Laboratory and computer capacity,
  • Health care training facilities, and
  • library services

at state institutions and at companies. Not all of the study programs offered by DIU take place in Dresden. The need to teach students at the locations of their practical training and DIU's international aspiration to realize its mission statement also in a geographical network leads it to a functionally based, national and international commitment.

The strategy for attracting students is internationally oriented. To generate new programs, attract students, and provide financial support through sponsorship, DIU pursues strategic partnerships with companies, government institutions, research institutes, and professional societies. A special strategic partnership exists with the Technical University of Dresden. As its complement, DIU relies on the strategy of an individualized style of education that takes into account the personal needs of the individual student and sets itself apart from the mass operations of the large universities. Teaching at DIU takes place in small groups of between 10 and 35 students.

Dresden International University (DIU) is part of the Technische Universität Aktiengesellschaft (TUDAG) network. TUDAG is a transfer company and combines the research competencies of the Dresden University of Technology and other research institutions with the requirements of the commercial sector. The transfer refers to technological, medical but also business topics and takes place in the form of projects / studies, study courses / certificates or start ups.

Other companies that are part of the TUDAG network and with which the DIU is more closely linked are the Europäisches Institut für postgraduale Bildung GmbH - EIPOS, GWT-TUD GmbH and the Technische Universität Dresden Institute of Advenced Studies - TUDIAS.

EIPOS GmbH offers demand-oriented further education for professionally experienced engineers, architects and comparably qualified specialists and executives from economy and administration with first-class lecturers, high-quality course organization and individual customer care. EIPOS is our partner for the extra-occupational study courses Real Estate Management and Preventive Fire Protection.

GWT-TUD GmbH focuses on supporting and advising researchers and scientists with solution-oriented services and acts as a project-related transfer consultant between current knowledge and its implementation in the latest technologies. The services of GWT-TUD close the gap between science and industry and offer scientists creative freedom in their research projects.
