Dresden International University
Dresden International University was established in April 2003. Currently more than 2.900 students are registered in 38 courses of studies. About 33% of these students are foreigners from 30 nations. Intercultural competence of students and staff, language training and international community life are different factors of DIUs internationalization. Since 2003 DIU has intensified its international activities in order to attract foreign students to study in Dresden. The “China Competence Team” (CCT), consisting of members of DIU and TUDIAS, has been touring to China on several occasions. Aims of these business trips are the establishment of a cooperation network as well as the intensification of partnerships with institutions such as in Tianjin, Wuhan, Guilin, Chengdu, Chongqing, Nanchang and XI’an. Furthermore DIU offers specially designed courses for students from African countries, Russia and Poland.
The innovative courses of DIU offer clearly structured qualifications on a high academic level. Aims of these programs are the improvement of academic knowledge and the acquisition of additional practical skills.
DIUs master and bachelor programs follow an interdisciplinary approach and can be done either as full-time or part-time studies. Lessons are held in English or German.
Studying at DIU offers the following advantages :
- The stimulating atmosphere of small-group-learning promotes a good relationship between teachers and students. Furthermore, courses are accompanied by an extensive cultural and social program including activities such as field trips, end-of-term parties, theatre visits, etc.
- Specifically designed curricula for international students are clearly-structured and offer a wide range of courses. Students are thus able to acquire a sound and diversified knowledge of studies during seminars and workshops.
- Intensive individual advising and tutoring by members of DIU staff along with a team of students and mentors is the key to enable the participants obtaining their goals within two or four semesters.
- Practice-oriented courses dealing with matters such as academic writing, presentation techniques or university-level teaching methods are optionally offered by DIU.
Given the interdisciplinary profile of DIU, every course comprises aspects of several academic disciplines. Therefore the modules of a course deal with all aspects of a specific topic relevant for its comprehensive processing.
The enhancement of students qualifications and competencies with a diverse and continuously expanding range of courses is connected to requirements on the international employment market.
We wish to assist you in coming to terms with the contemporary fast-moving nature of the international employment market, as well as in achieving a secure career.
